FAQ

Why an orthodontist?

An orthodontist is a dentist who has completed 2-3 years of full-time additional training focusing specifically on diagnosing and correcting the position and alignment of the teeth and bite, in addition to many related disharmonies of the face and jaws. This additional training in such a specific area makes the orthodontist the most qualified individual to treat dental malocclusions.

Why can’t you give me a price over the phone?

Because each case is unique and our approach to each case is customized to that individual patient’s needs, we cannot give a price until we know the details of your particular case. We provide a thorough evaluation and review in a clear and transparent way all the details of the case and its complexities prior to discussing treatment fees.

At what age should my child see an orthodontist?

While the exact age of permanent tooth eruption can vary, most children have some permanent teeth erupted by age 7. Therefore, it is recommended that your child be checked by an orthodontic specialist by age 7.

While your child’s teeth may look straight, there can be problems developing with the growth of the jaws or eruption of the teeth still within the bone that only an orthodontist has the training to identify.

Does orthodontic treatment hurt?

No, orthodontic treatment does not hurt.  Most of our patients report a minor amount of achy soreness for a day or
two when treatment is first started. We always recommend soft, easy to chew foods for the first few days while you are adjusting to your new appliances.

What options do I have for paying for treatment?

We believe orthodontic treatment should be affordable.  We offer a variety of payment plans and 0% interest financing to allow you to choose the payment method that best fits your family’s financial situation.  We also accept funds from flexible spending (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA) and will work with you to maximize this pre-tax benefit.  Additionally, most dental insurance plans do cover orthodontic treatment.  While all insurance plans differ in their coverage, our team is happy to review your coverage with you and help you to obtain the maximum benefit possible.
